The Bulls know they'll be chasing a talented Miami quarterback on Saturday.
They just don't know which one yet.
Hurricanes coach Randy Shannon said Tuesday he will see how well a healthy Jacory Harris and a battle-tested Stephen Morris do in practice this week before he makes a decision on a starting quarterback for the home game against South Florida (6-4).
Morris started the past three games in place of Harris, who was out with a concussion. Morris, a former fourth-stringer, went 2-1 during that time after Miami fans previously voiced their frustration while Harris struggled, throwing 11 interceptions this season.
"Whoever has the best practice, that's who you go with,"
Shannon told The Associated Press.
Shannon's philosophy isn't surprising to USF's Todd Fitch, who is in his seventh season as an offensive coordinator, including stops at UConn and East Carolina.
"Usually you go with your gut feeling (with) what you see on the practice field, both of them, how they're performing and especially when a guy comes off an injury,"
he said.
Fitch also provided some insight as to which quarterback coaches would tend to go with under the circumstances.
"Once they feel his confidence is back and he's sharp, they'll probably give the good look to a guy that has basically two years of starting experience,"
he said. "But they're lucky, they have two of those guys, we have one of those guys."
Redshirt sophomore B.J. Daniels is the only quarterback on USF's roster with a lot of college experience and he's been banged up as of late.
