Miami Hurricanes defensive tackle Marcus Forston will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining an undisclosed knee injury during Wednesday's practice.
According to Miami, the injury occurred during non-contact drills. Forston is the second starter the Hurricanes lost for the season this week, joining linebacker Ramon Buchanan (knee). Golden, who doesn't speak to reporters after Thursday practices, told 790 AM The Ticket that Forston's expected recovery time is three months.
Adewale Ojomo, a converted defensive end, will compete with freshman Olsen Pierre and junior-college transfer Darius Smith for the starting spot alongside Micanor Regis.
"It's been brutal in there at defensive tackle,"
Miami coach Al Golden said. "Again, I feel bad for (Forston)."
Forston, a junior, had five tackles and a sack in three games. He missed the season-opener because he was suspended for violating NCAA rules. Miami is already thin at defensive tackle with Curtis Porter and Luther Robinson also out with injuries.
