The Miami Hurricanes took a depth chart hit at tight end when it was announced Blake Ayles will miss the entire season.
The school did not release Ayles' injury, but coach Al Golden said earlier this week it was head-related. Ayles, who transferred from USC last spring, has had two concussions in his collegiate career. He earned the starting role during the preseason before sustaining the injury.
Ayles has a redshirt season available.
Golden has repeatedly said he wants the tight ends more involved in the offense. The Hurricanes will now turn to Asante Cleveland, Clive Walford and Chase Ford at the position.
Other players ruled out for Saturday's game against Ohio State include tackle Seantrel Henderson, defensive lineman Luther Robinson and linebacker Shayon Green.
QUICK HITS
--Golden said Marcus Forston, who was suspended for the season-opener for violating NCAA rules, will start alongside Micanor Regis at defensive tackle.
--Cornerback Lee Chambers pushed starter Mike Williams during practice this week, but will remain the backup. Golden has also decided to keep Brandon McGee as the other starting cornerback.
--Freshman defensive end Anthony Chickillo continues to impress. Golden said it will be a game-time decision if he starts ahead of Adewale Ojomo, who also returns from a one-game suspension for violating NCAA rules.
--Receiver Allen Hurns will make his second consecutive start, but look for Tommy Streeter and LaRon Bryd to be "in the mix."
Travis Benjamin, another player returning from suspension, will start on the other side.
