The father of top national recruit Bryce Brown insists that, as far as he knows, "everything is fine"
in his son's recruiting process and that the young running back will visit the University of Miami in early March.
Various reports said Tuesday that UM would not reissue its scholarship offer after the letter of intent expired at the end of the day Wednesday. Coaches are not allowed to comment about specific recruits.
"It's not true what they're saying,"
Arthur Brown Sr. said Thursday morning. "Everything is still good."
On Wednesday afternoon, Arthur Sr. told The Miami Herald that Bryce, the country's No. 1 running back prospect, said he had a positive conversation with UM coach Randy Shannon on Tuesday morning. According to Arthur Sr., Bryce did not mention anything about Shannon telling him the offer would be rescinded.
"The scholarship offer expiring was not brought up,"
Arthur Sr. said. "Bryce spoke to coach and when the conversation had ended, everything was clear. I'll be taking him to the airport March 3, and I expect him to be boarding the plane for Miami. He will go by himself so he can get a true feeling about his possible future relationships."
Arthur Sr. said his son, 17, was surprised to go on the Internet and read the reports saying UM was pulling its offer.
"He was kind of shocked, to tell you the truth,"
Arthur Sr. said. ``Bryce generally doesn't put much confidence in what is reported in the media. If you want the facts, if you want to know the truth, you need to go to all parties involved.
"Coach Shannon has been very supportive. He understands this process is something Bryce needs to complete. When March 16 rolls around, he will make his decision. Hopefully, there will be another letter of intent available when he makes that announcement. If not, we have no control of that."
"I have it on good faith that everything is OK. I haven't heard anything different."
